Competitor in Skill: Restaurant Service
Country: Singapore

How did you get interested in your skill?
When I was young I used to walk down Orchard Rd and look inside the windows of the beautiful hotels. People seemed to be very happy inside the restaurants enjoying the food! I love to eat amazing food and thought I could make people just as happy so I applied to study Food and Beverage Operations and realised I had found my perfect job!

Where did you do your training for your skill?
I do my training at my college, Institute of Technical Education in Choa Chu Kang. I've also worked at a few restaurants to improve my customer service and skills.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
I am a student in Institute of Technical Education and our teachers tell us all about the competitions happening.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career? My father and my lecturers have guided me into this career.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
All the lecturers believe and support me. They always encourage me and give me motivations. Without them, I won't be here representing my country.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
My best memory comes from being able to learn new skills and train with the other friends while we prepared for Singapore Worldskills Singapore. We always help one another when we are facing trouble with certain skills and motivate each other to do better!

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills. AMAZING!

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
I've graduated from my course with a high GPA, because of all my practical training and after the competition, I will be pursuing my studies further in Hotel Operations and hopefully move on to get a Diploma or start working and study while I gain more experience. I know that having Worldskills on my resume will help me with all my future career moves.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I'm in between studies and training for Worldskills so I can bring the best I have and represent Singapore!

What are your future career aspirations?
I want to be an air stewardess in Singapore Airline.
