How did you get interested in your skill?
I have been interested in woodwork from a young age, through school I further developed my interest and skills.


Where did you do your training for your skill?
I have completed 2 years of “Furniture and Wood Technology” in GMIT Letterfrack and completed skill specific training in Dun Laoighre Further Education Institute


How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
I had been aware of Ireland Skills through school and learnt more about it through my college education and their selection program.


Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
I had a strong interest in cabinet making from a young age, family members suggested I pursue it as a career.


What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
Ireland skills creates a positive and welcoming environment for all competitors to achieve our best individually and as a national team.


Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
My toolbox had to be shipped from Ireland a number of weeks before the Worldskills competition, this was a very nervous but memorable experience for me, I had to make a long checklist and carefully package all my neccesary equipment and tools.


Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
It has been a lot of hard work and dedication to train and prepare to the best of my ability for the competition, I've seen great improvements since the beginning giving me a great sense of achievement.


Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Yes it has allowed me to develop my skills to a very high standard that I would have never reached before. I have learnt many different methods to plan organise and complete my jobs.


What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I am currently a full time student halfway though my 4 year college course in “Furniture and Wood Technology”.


What are your future career aspirations?
I wish to work for bespoke furniture makers to gain more experience after which I would like to setup my own workshop and business.
