1.    How did you get interested in your skill?

It is the skill that better fits to my training course.

2.    Where did you do your training for your skill?

I did it in two places: in Cali city, at the Centro de Diseño Tecnológico Industrial at SENA and at the Centro de Industria y la Construcción in Ibagué city in Colombia.

 

3.    How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?

SENA is a very recognised institution in my country and as for the programs (courses) there is a website to enrol in them.

4.    Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?

I just chose it. Also I took a pair of vocational and attitude exams downloaded from the internet that a teacher from the school recommended me. I did it to know what courses were more suitable for me. That’s how I chose this career.

5.    What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?

We had a competition inside my training course. Then, we had a competition with the regional WorldSkills in Valle. After, we had the WorldSkills Colombia and WorldSkills Americas what became as the qualifiers for Sao Paulo 2015.

6.    Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?

When I won WorldSkills Colombia I thought that many doors were going to be opened for me. I didn’t measure what it meant but I knew I was going well and being chosen for WorldSkills Sao Paulo made me feel very happy. I remember that day very well.

7.    Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills

I have gained better approach.

8.    Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.

Of course yes, knowing that other people are training as I’m doing, motivates me more as well as being aware that I have got this with effort and dedication. Also, the team work has made me understand how I can achieve things that I couldn’t before.  

9.    What do you currently do?  Where do you work?

I am currently a WorldSkills competitor and I have a contract with SENA in the logistics area what allows me to train myself most of the time.

 

10.  What are your future career aspirations?

I want to learn all the theoretical foundations and the practice of mechanical engineering.
