Stefan Fritsche

Competitor in Skill: Graphic Design Technology
Country: Denmark

How did you get interested in your skill?
I have always been a creative person – as a kid I spent more time in school drawing than actually learning. So when my mom (also a graphic designer) introduced me to Adobe at age 11, my mind was blown.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
Mostly at home where I have my computer, but I also did some training at the school I studied at. My skill doesn't really have the biggest machinery requirements so I can work a lot of places

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
In school. My teacher told me about Skills – after that I knew I had to be a part of it.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
If I have to say a person, it would without doubts be my mom, however I do believe that my interest in graphic design is made by many factors. For me it is a way of expressing my creativity, so I think I would have found it anyway.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
Good – I feel like we have a great team and I look forward to competing at the highes level possible

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
Winning the danish Skills championship. Was a great experience to be admired for something you're good at.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
I have had a lot of questions, about pretty much everything... From friends wanting to know whats up, to even kids asking how they can become a graphic designer themselves. It's amazing to be appreciated for something you would just call your everyday

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Defiantly – during my training I have learned so much from various people at the top of my skill in Denmark.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I have been doing a lot of freelance lately, however I did recently get in to one of the best design schools in the world, where I start in September.

What are your future career aspirations?
I would love to go back to Hamburg (was an apprentice there) and work as a Creative Director, my plan right now is however to finish my school.
